Destination Event: Costa Rica
It’s taken me several weeks months (!) but I’ve finally arrived at the last of the destinations featured at the Destination Event held at The White Dress by the shore in March. We traveled the globe, visiting Paris, Capri and New England. Tropical Costa Rica was the last stop on our journey. The lush rainforest and the fun, vibrant patterns of the Costa Rican culture inspired our designs. For the invitation I created a hand stitched book with three layers of pattern, the middle layer being printed on vellum for added depth and interest. The book format invitation is perfect for a destination wedding as it allows for large amounts of information to be presented in a beautiful and organized manner. Need to include more details? Add more pages!
The image below shows the cover, the floral vellum middle page and the last page with the wedding details.
The invitation suite was tucked into a custom printed burlap bag – a nod to the famous Costa Rican coffee – and then packaged in a chocolate brown box with a matching label. Burlap bags filled with coffee beans doubled as place cards and favors. Each burlap sack was secured by Paloma’s Nest wooden rings with the guest’s name on them.
From Candice at Jubilee Events: “Our square tablescape donned colorful patterned green linen from La Tavola Linen along with a blue runner. We used saffron napkins, folded at each place setting and topped with our coffee bean place card/favor. We chose a mother-of-pearl styled Velencia charger from Party Rental, simple taupe stoneware and wood handled flatware.”
Datura, a modern garden created a stunning arrangement using palm leaves, bamboo, orchids, mangos, kiwi and pineapple. The colors and inclusion of native flowers and grasses truly imbues a Pura Vida aura to the tablescape. Below, a menu beautifully calligraphied by love*jenna.
The White Dress by the shore selected an Amy Kuschel layered chiffon gown -the perfect bohemian selection for a Costa Rican beach wedding. And last but not least, all of the photos taken at the event are by none other than the fabu Carla Ten Eyck!
